Aylee Blitzkurr’s deepest desire is at hand. Accepted to the most prestigious
dance academy, this sixteen-year-old ballerina is a breath away from becoming a

A day in your writing life.
I’d say it’s the same old boring routine… but it honestly is NOT. (I write YA fantasy for crying out loud. And I LOVE IT!)
So let’s see, I’m up around 7.
Pretty quickly after, I down some coffee and try to get in “the zone”.
My husband helps prepare our kid-o for school, and I tend to walk on the treadmill to help that coffee kick in.
At the same time, I like to pull up a few writer affirmation videos on YouTube to get me in the creative mindset, which works VERY quickly for me. (These are my top picks that I listen to almost every day. Affirmations for writers 🡺 https://youtu.be/5M2GIUFmdLc and I Am A GREAT WRITER 🡺 https://youtu.be/vOyJuwKK7XQ (this one I usually just listen to the List Of Affirmations at: 3:58)
After that, I’ll sneak a quick breakfast to keep my brain from screaming that it wants food more than it wants some of that fantasy magic action.
Then ba-bam! I’m at my desk mulling over my current manuscript. I tend to start with going over the chapter I wrote the day before. Then I’ll map out the next chapter as a sort of jumbled batch of notes in a note book. (I’m now digital and using OneNotes on my iPad with my apple pen. It’s heaven!)
During writing time, I shoot for about 1000-2000 words a day now, then “pull the pen” at around noon to start in on marketing.
In the evening, if my chapter is finished (which tends to happen every other day) my husband will read it back to me, and we will discuss the events, the flow, and any need for changes.
I absolutely love the way my husband and I dive into my work in progress together. It gives us a lot to talk about, and, since my stories are action packed and full of twists, we never run out of things to say.
Fun Note* In case you’re wondering, my husband is not a writer himself. He’s not even a reader. 🤪 BUT he did grow up in acting and has a keen sense of creativity and inner knowing for stories. 🖤
