Hello, mystery readers! My name is Wendy Winchester, and I live and work in the historic Mississippi River port of Rosalie, Mississippi. After I received my journalism degree from Mizzou, I took the first newspaper job available to me in my hometown—the social column. That was three, long years ago, and I am bored to death doing fluffy wedding and baby shower write-ups.Just recently, however, something happened here in Rosalie that shook the town to its roots. The four wealthy widows who comprise the exclusive Rosalie Bridge Club were all poisoned together at one of their bridge luncheons. Cyanide-laced sugar was stirred into their coffees, and they were all DOA at Rosalie General Hospital. This was particularly horrifying for me because the ladies had all recently admitted me to the club as a fledgling member, and I was just beginning to learn the game. But I pulled myself together and went to my admittedly sexist editor, Dalton Hemmings, and suggested he let me do a series of features on the ladies, including what they meant to Rosalie. It is my intention, however, to do enough research to take a crack at solving these crimes and get some justice for the four Gin Girls, as they called themselves due to their fondness for the juniper berry brew. Luckily, my father, Bax Winchester, is the chief of police, and my on-and-off boyfriend, Ross, is a police detective. I expect to be leaked things now and then by the men in my life, and I am bound and determined to discover what monster committed Rosalie’s only quadruple homicide in its long, storied history. There are suspects out the wazoo, including my dear friend, Merleece Maxique, who worked as a domestic servant for one of the ladies and is being touted by our racist District Attorney, Harry Keller, as the leading suspect. I am determined to prove otherwise and get a much-needed promotion to my paper’s first, full-time investigative reporter. I invite you to follow my journey, full of enough dazzling twists and turns to keep you compulsively turning the pages.
